A little bit of AX PARIS love

Well not a little bit of love but a huge amount actually! I was asked to review an item from their online store ... and at first I thought that this isn't for me - mum of 2, work from home and sliding towards 40 very quickly. I loved a lot of the clothes but they were either too short or too young for me (yes I know age is but a number!) but no-one needs to see my butt as I bend over is said too short skirts and dresses.

I wanted to try this dress but it was going to be too short for me when I looked at the length of the dress, shame because it's gorgeous.

Colour Clash Paisley Dress - £30

I absolutely LOVE the pattern of this, it's so fresh but I don't get on with strapless dresses (another downside of having no boobs! When I wear a strapless bra (that I don't ever fill) the dress then gets sucked into it and looks bizarre - anyone else have this?

It comes as a maxi dress also, but again, same issue with strapless bra and dress sucking in (I'm also wondering if the model is shorter than I am and how on earth anyone would actually wear this - it looks very long/too long.)

Since I last looked at their site they have added two dresses that I might have to buy - I am starting on a path of OBSESSION with yellow after seeing so much on Treasure N Pleasure

Floral Elasticated Strap Dress - £30

And this is my ultimate favourite - absolutely stunning and a total bargain at £30

Let's get to me, after all this is my blog!  If you notice what I wear daily on Avenue 57 you will notice I have a lot of grey in my wardrobe, I have a 'thing' for grey and so this dress JUMPED out at me when I was looking at the 100s of dresses online.  Here is the midi dress modelled by someone who hasn't had children* (*I don't know that for a fact, I'm just assuming)

Here I am in my dress - I wore it for errands on Saturday during the day and literally swapped heels and added a necklace for the evening - a totally versatile dress and one that I am excited to be able to wear again very soon. I won't lie to you, I am wearing spanx and they did NOTHING for me when I sat down to eat a very large supper with friends on Saturday night - I'm just pleased I was able to strategically place the napkin over my stomach!

Have you ever tried a midi? Have you totally discounted them? I urge anyone to try one just to see. What I love more than anything about this style of higher neck jersey dress is what it does to my boobs (those non boobs I keep bleating on about!). I am wearing just a padded bra from New Look (the same style I wear every day) but for some reason I look very Dolly Parton (for me anyway!). I also am on a personal challenge to get a boob shot in at least once a week - I know Avril loves them :-)

Day Look with converse

Was a tad nippy first thing so made it even more casual with scarf and denim jacket

Evening Look - add bling and heels and away you go!

Have you looked on AX Paris recently/at all/ever? They have good bags and jewellery too.

  5. You so have boobs! However you have real boobs, and unfortunately over the age of 30 (or post kids!) it is only the very fortunate or the artificially enhanced that can get away with that empire line strapless dress thing! You definitely styled your look a whole load better than those model shots, they are awful, who are they trying to appeal to?

  6. I have exactly the same problem with my bosoms - I have to velcro a strapless bra to any strapless dress and spend most of the time in the loos fixing it!! Although you first photo with the statement necklace looks like you shouldn't have too many problems!! Love the yellow print dress and your choice with converse is my fav!

I have to try on with said crap strapless bra every strapless anything - which makes online shopping impossible!
