WOW, just one dress from Sainsbury's ...

to make you feel good all day long!

Last night I had some girlfriends come over to view my bits and pieces. One of them is so stunningly gorgeous I can't put into words how much. She works for a corp and we were talking day/office/uniform wear. I said I would love to work in a formal office (the office I visit is very informal and small) and wear nice suits and dresses with killer heels and matching bags etc etc. And then I thought to myself, why can't I wear the nice dress and heels - I'm dressing for ME not for anyone else. I also own lots of nice dresses I never wear and as I'm on this ridiculously stupid  amazing 100 day spending ban and no repeating of outfits I thought I'd grab one out the wardrobe and just wear it.

AND I AM SO GLAD I DID. Firstly it was so easy to get dressed this morning knowing what I was going to wear! Secondly, I received SO many lovely comments at school today - I mean really lovely (almost embarrassing) comments from class teachers and parents and then when I posted my look on Avenue 57 I got a whole day of lovely comments. I can't tell you what it means to receive such positive comments. I urge you all to tell someone they look lovely if you think they do - it makes their day/week/month. At BritMums on Saturday I saw this gorgeous woman - she was about 50 but looked so amazing. I walked up to her and told her - well she laughed and nearly fell over - she was SO made up and kept thanking me saying no-one had ever said such nice things to her before!

So .. the dress .. it's just a £20 from Sainsbury's but I love it - the style, the fit, it's comfortable, it was cheap (you know me and my supermarket bargains!) and I am still wearing it now whilst cooking supper and washing up - oh I know how to live!

Tomorrow I will dig out another favourite dress I don't wear often. What item do you wish your lifestyle meant you could wear more of?

Fiona
xoxo

  1. I also have this dress and wore it during my pregnancy too as it's so stretchy and the wrap over gives you extra bump space! :-)

    1. Oh I bet it looked great as a maternity dress - I am going to wear it again (after 100 days) as it's one of the best and if I hadn't been inspired by my friend last night I wouldn't have worn it today!

  2. You look fabulous Fi - it's just a wonderful dress but it suits you to a T. You should SO wear it more often. I keep thinking of Kirsty Allsopp and her dress filled wardrobe. They are so bloomin easy to wear when you think of it - no matching separates! Ax

Thank you for lovely compliment - I am happy again!

      It's about 2 years old I'm afraid
I have a lot of nectar points - this is a very good idea because if I use them to buy clothes that's not me 'spending' - I think I freaking love you for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lady today posted this great shirt from Sainsbury's and I want it -http://www.avenue57.com/a57/look/9088/well-if-he-wants-to-eat-there-will-be-consequences.aspx

  4. It's a gorgeous dress, and no wonder you received so many compliments! You look amazing. I've been eyeing a dress on All Saints that has a similar gathering at the front, but I can't bering myself to spend the money. I wish I had a better talent at finding bargains.

  7. I saw you on avenue 57 and loved it but I didn't realise it was Sainsburys! Even more amazing! Absolutely stunning, Fiona. I love dresses and have many for that very reason - they are so easy to wear, change the shoes/jacket/accessories and it's a different look. Lynne x

    1. I love giving out because I know how nice I feel when I receive. What I need to learn now is to accept them with grace instead of saying something stupid like 'oh this old thing, oh it's from Sainsbury's, oh I don't really like' - I need some lessons!

  16. You look absolutely stunning in that dress - such a fab figure and great pins! And you're so right about paying compliments to people. I always do it (much to my daughter's mortification) as I know how great I feel if someone says something nice to me!
