4 day break - capsule wardrobe

On Thursday morning at 5am a driver (taxi to you and I!) is coming to pick me up and I'm going to Gatwick to join 11 others for a 4 day/3 night break in Carvoeiro in the Algarve. We're staying in townhouses at Vale d'Oliveiras Quinta Resort & Spa and I am VERY VERY VERY excited!

I don't want to over pack, I don't want to under pack so I've put some thought into what I should take and will then add a few more choices if I have space.

I've got lots of mini bottles of hair/face stuff and will leave them there after the weekend.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Shoes - you can never take too many. Apparently it's cobbled streets and flats are highly recommended but I just can't not take heels, so wedges it is.

Accessories - again, you can't take too many. I have 3 statement necklaces and lots of wrap bracelets because they instantly jazz up any outfit.

For travelling (will be cold at 5am but bloody hot when we arrive late morning).
Shorts, vest top, denim shirt, sandals and wrap bracelet.

Bikini/tankini - taking 2

Day dresses and play suits - 4 of those, one for each day

Evenings -  of them so I've packed 4 outfits - as you do because I can't be

White shirt dress, leopard print clutch and gold sandals

Blue dress, statement necklace, clutch and sandals (might team with orange wedges)

Strapless black jumpsuit, statement necklace, orange wedges and clutch

Mini dress, sandals, statement necklace and wrap bracelet

I've added some patterned harem pants in for the return journey as we leave late evening arriving in the UK at midnight - it's not going to be shorts weather then!

Do you like packing? Can you pack light? I think I've done alright all in all, what do you think?

Fiona

  1. I am having a similar packing dilemma! I am off to Guernsey, a Friday to Monday trip with lots of functions to attend! Normally I like to take the least amount possible but this trip I am using up every bit of my luggage allowance as I really have no idea what to pack so I'm not taking any chances! It looks as though you have packed perfectly for your trip Fiona....enjoy your girly weekend away! xx

    1. I think it's easier for me as I know the weather is going to be bloody hot hot hot. Guernsey has the potential to have rain and sun and wind and warmth and coldness?!!!

Have a fabulous time yourself Michelle

  2. I love your evening wear! I've been trying to pack lightly recently but always seems to pack the wrong things (too many jumpers when hot or vest tops when cold!) Hope you have a lovely time x

    1. I try and pack light because I've been on those holidays where I've taken everything but the kitchen sink and just brought it all home again - that annoys me!

  3. Bloody hell Fiona 7 pairs of shoes - totally impressed! You go girl. And not only is it very cobbly, it's also VERY steep! Trying pushing a push chair back up the hill when you've had a few bevvies - that was us 17 years ago lol. Think you've got all bases covered. Have a great time xx

    1. I *might* take out the white wedges as I'm not sure when I'll wear them but I am most certainly taking all those flats!

    1. But what if I really really really can't wear wedges there and I really really really need a back up flat pair and what if one back up flat pair hurts my feet? I need back up back up pairs!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Hi Fiona!
I'm a fan follower (and from Portugal, Lisbon). Surprised to read my country being mentioned so I had to leave a comment :)
I went to Carvoeiro (for a week, on holidays) about 5 or 6 years ago, and indeed it is steep and cobbly! also pretty hot.. and my feet "swell" with the heat, so I only wore flats, flip-flops and for some heel espadrilles which go along well with the beach vibe + steep/cobbly :)
Still, gorgeous choices you've made as always,,,
Oh, and in Carvoeiro there were nice street clothe stores ("boutiques" but not too fancy) to buy summer dresses and beach/holidays wear, and a very nice shoe store - I did buy some very nice things, I remember (**sigh**). :)
Don't know the name or if it's still there...
Enjoy and let us know how it went :)

I will enjoy your country and drink for England to keep the economy going!

  7. Oh I loved this post. I HATE and DESPISE packing with a passion. I swear I'd rather clean the bathrooms than have to pack. I'm always the person throwing stuff into a case after midnight, with a departure time pre dawn!!! But I think you've done a super job on yours - well impressed with all the shoes. I hardly need to tell you to have a ball!!!!!
