And here is what I ended up with. I did have a fringe cut in but they just don't suit me. I look 'weird' with a full on flat fringe so I swept it to the side but because it's short it didn't look right.
Here I am looking daft with the fringe down - please don't all laugh at once!
Over the week I have really struggled with it. To say I hated it doesn't even cover it. I tried straight, I tried curly, I tried fringe down, to the side, clipped up - I just wasn't happy :-( The last photo is how I wore it when it was longer so what was the point in having it cut?
I called a lady who has cut my hair once before and as luck would have it she had a cancellation and could fit me in yesterday (Friday). IMMEDIATELY she saw the issue. The one length bob just isn't for my face/height/build and so we went for the graduated bob. She came, she cut, she dried and left all within the hour and for £15. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!
I bought the Babyliss big hair dryer last week - bargain at £40 from Feel Unique who offer free delivery - result!
Now to do it myself! Watch this space for hair-gate update!
Fiona
Your new haircut looks fabulous x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've yet to do it myself so that will be the test!
DeleteLooks stunning Fiona; really suits you. Hope its not too difficult to manage. Also goes to show you don't necessarily need to pay ££'s for a good cut at some fancy smancy salon!
ReplyDelete(nearing fifty av 57).
Hello! I agree that you don't NEED to pay £50+ for a cut. For the most part I only have trims so always happy for home hair cut. I know some women LOVE going to a salon but I find it all a bit uncomfortable!
DeleteIt looks amazing! The difference that length makes is amazing - just shows you. Really suits you - good luck with the Big Hair xx
ReplyDeleteI think also a 'cut' as opposed to just short hair. I knew it wasn't right all week so I'm really pleased I had it cut into a style.
Deleteoh my lord, check you out, you shexy thing! I LOVE LOVE IT!!! Actually I reckon it's quite versatile too? You look so so elegant. Gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteoh I love you. Where do you want the cheque sent?
DeleteI reckon I do a lot with it!
It looks GORGEOUS Fiona - honestly I love it! Only just caught up on the 'hair story'! Keri x
ReplyDeleteHair gate has been bugging me for a long time!
DeleteI finally feel happy!
Just a few snips and what a difference. I love it. I hope you continue to love it too. H xx
ReplyDeleteFunny how it's all about cut - really pleased with it (still haven't 'done' it myself yet though)
Deletethe latest version is amazing, I can't believe the difference, I am tempted to go for it myself having seen these pics!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOO keep your long hair! I have hair envy!
DeleteThank you :-)
ReplyDeleteYou must feel like a new woman Fiona. It looks great. Laughing at how many styles you've had this last week xx
ReplyDeleteI know!
DeleteOnly one thing to say Fiona WOW, I did like your first 'do', but the second is amazing.

Thank you Sue! First was ok, it's what I asked for in fairness - just didn't suit me
DeleteThat is fabulous Fiona! Wish I coud let mine grow to that length but I have no patience as it just grows out instead of down and looks like a bloody helmet on my head!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend:)
ReplyDelete~Anne
Helmet head I was or rather I like to say medieval man!
DeleteWell so glad that turned out right for you because I know how horrible it is when you hate your hair and I know everyone says it's hair and it will grow but it takes a long time especially when you want it to grow. Your hairdresser did good - I love it and you're pulling that "I look gooooood" look in the mirror in that last pic so I know you love it!
ReplyDeleteWhen you want it to grow it never does #fact
DeleteLove it!! Hope it's easier to manage for you!! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! It's so healthy and shiny, beautiful! x
ReplyDeleteI actually like the fringe on you but yes, the graduated bob is a great choice!! It looks fab :)
ReplyDeleteI lurve it! Really suits you with more layers in. I also went for the chop this week and had a graduated bob. Thinking maybe more layers for me next time after seeing your pics.
ReplyDeleteOh that looks much much nicer Fiona, really like it. Problem with these images is, as I found with the one I took to the salon, these people have their hair done purely for the shoot and probably struggle like us every other day when they have to do it themselves. The first image is lovely though xx
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona!! Wow your last cut is amazing so super sleek and stylish, love this style xx
ReplyDeleteLove the graduated bob - so much better. And now I'm waiting to hear how you got on when you had to dry and style it yourself!
ReplyDeleteFiona, it looks fantastic on you! Much more you I think. Lynne xx
ReplyDeleteMuch better the second time round. Took the bulk right out of it! Well-played!

Sassy!!! It looks amazing & well done to your for sticking to your guns! Just gorgeous! Ax
ReplyDeleteI missed this because I was on hols, trying to catch up! I did see your new hair on A57 and do like it, I think yes it does look gorgeous now that it's been graduated. I think I'm the same, a blunt cut doesn't suit me. x
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning Fiona, look much better without the fringe. The big hair is fanstastic takes all the hard work work out of blow drying your hair. You definitely rock the shorter hair !!!!! xx
