Sunglasses Obsession

My name is Fiona, I'm 39 and I have a major minor obsession with sunglasses. There said it, where do I go for rehab?

I love TKMaxx for sunglasses, it's the only place I shop for them. I would love to spend £100+ on designer sunglasses but I always always always end up breaking/ruining them so I can't justify that price on a single pair when I need lots. Why do I need lots? I have very bright blue eyes and they are very sensitive to the sun so I wear sunglasses at the smallest hint of bright light - not in a fashionista rock star kind of way but in a needs must kind of way!

I currently own and wear 10 pairs of sunglasses- (not at the same time you silly billy)! I have a few in the car, a couple in handbags, some around the house and then some in a drawer. I never take care of my sunglasses (hence why I buy cheap and lots of!)

Just remembered there are 2 more pairs of mine in my husband's car which is not here at home at the moment - so that's 12 pairs for me!

My brand new favourites. I did want Ray Ban Aviators but at over £100 that wasn't going to happen so I fell in love with these Andrew Marc ones - £12.99, thank you very much!

These Kenneth Cole ones were around £15 2 years ago and I love the style of them - very Bono don't you think?

Supersized Kenneth Cole ones again - I can't remember how much but £14.99 springs to mind. These are really good in the sunshine (not been tested this year obviously!)

Vera Wang - years old and I think I bought in America - they were cheap as chips and my first dipping of toe into aviator water

LOVE these Oscar De La Renta sunglasses - they are so comfortable to wear

 More Kenneth Cole!

Stone is the brand and price unknown - don't wear much as not 'big' enough but a good spare pair in the car.

Now I know they all look pretty much the same but to me they are very different! I URGE you to check out sunglasses in TK Maxx if you want quality sunglasses - please ensure you walk past the crap blingy ones and pick out the subtle nice designer ones!

How many pairs of sunglasses do you own? Do you wear them all? How do you 'store' and take care of them - I bet you're not as bad as I am - here's how mine are stored after that little show and tell ......

  2. Wow! I have one good pair, use them in the car and out and about - decent lenses, I am always squinting even in cloud so I really need them! And then a supermarket pair for the garden/pool that I wouldn't care about if a child sat on... I am in awe of your collection :-)

    1. My sunglasses obsession is like my clothing obsession - buy cheap, wear out and buy again!

I can't take care of nice things, I'm clumsy and heavy handed. I did once have a lovely pair of £100 Ray Bans, had them perched on the top of my head whilst driving .. went over a bump, I shot out of my seat and crushed the glasses! Also hurt my head! So now it's £20 or less from TK Maxx all the way!!

  3. Well hello sister! I never, ever buy designer sunglasses because I'm so useless at taking care of them. Dunnes, Heatons and yes, TKMaxx does the job for me. Like you I have them at the bottom of handbags, stuffed in the side pockets of the car, I think I own about 3 or 4 pairs. But I'm jealous of your collection - I'm going to buy more :) However, technical question - do you get those annoying marks on the bridge of your nose and do you find your make up gets rubbed off by them as well ... or is that just me???

    1. Sometimes yes, sometimes no .. depends on the glasses .. and sometimes because I'm getting old now and the facial skin is crap I get sunglasses marks UNDER MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. LOL!! Never had that happen .. BUT! Is there any secret to knowing which shape glasses are going to leave marks on your nose and which ones won't? I just find it soooo irritating. All that concealing, colour correcting, foundation, powdering .. all ruined after 10 mins of wearing sunnies!

  4. I got some fab Chopard ones in TK Maxx which were orginally over £300 for £9.99!
I love wayfarers, but buy fakes because the real ones are so heavy that they leave dents on my nose!

  5. Oh my collection is nothing to write home about - as long as they are cheap - then I don't need to be precious about them. From Primark to TK Maxx - that's the extent of it for me. I had some nice Oscar de la Renta ones from TK Maxx some years ago till I sat on them. But yes - I do always have a look at the sunglasses in TK Maxx because there are such good bargains to be had.

  7. I have been browsing online more than 4 hours today,
yet I never found any interesting article like yours.

It's pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.
