White Dresses For Summer ...

With the sun out I now have a new desire - the white dress. I have one but it's too big and the wrong shape/size on me but I LOVE how simple they are.

I'm talking specifically about the floaty white dress that you would wear with ease during the summer ahead. I am going to be wearing LOTS of dresses in the summer becayse there is nothing more cooling that a simple floaty dress and sandals.

In truth I fell in love with the DOC (Duchess of Cambridge) and her broderie anglaise white dress the other day

I'm kicking myself because last summer Sainsbury's had one identical to this and I didn't buy it.  HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS.

Inspiration from Pinterest (falling more and more in love with this site)

My best pick of white dresses are:

ASOS - £58

ASOS - £100

ASOS £30

Oasis - £70

Mango - £44.95

Hobbs (via John Lewis) - £179

Next - £28

Topshop - £38

River Island - £30

The last two dresses are white, it's just the silly screen grab software I've used that makes them look grey!

Do you wear white a lot in the summer? Do you own a white dress? I NEED one but the ban has me waiting or altering the one I already own (too big so might tumble dry to shrink)

Fiona

  1. Pinterest is so addictive, too many amazing outfits! I love the dress the DOC is wearing, not sure I could pull it off though.

    1. She'd look good in a plastic bag! I reckon you could pull off the white dress look very easily

  2. Oooh love the Mango and Hobbs ones. Boden have a gorgeous dress similar to Kate's too. I think she's looked stunning and has had some unfair criticism these last couple of weeks. I think people forget that she is representing the Royal Family, her outfits need to reflect this as well as standing the test of time.

And p.s. you must have a white dress already in your 'mahusive' wardrobe Fiona????? xx

    1. I agree she's been in for criticism but she would be - UK people like to bitch about anything!

I have one, it just doesn't suit me.

If I had the budget I'd buy the Hobbs one - it's gorgeous

Oh I forgot (always do) about Boden!!

  4. You can't beat a fresh white dress when the sun comes out! Gap have some really fab broderie anglaise styles in at the mo.....might have to wait and see if there is a voucher though as I already have a couple of white dresses and not sure how I will justify another to the DH at the mo! xx

  5. Now there's a thought! A white dress! Dresses have been sooooo far off my radar for so many years, that I'm only getting to grips with the idea of buying one now. Lots of inspiration here - thanks!

  7. I bought one in Gap last year and agree you can't beat a white dress in summer. I loved the DOC's dress and can't believe Sainsbo's did a similar one. Hopefully they will bring it back, if they do call me, my Sainsbo's doesn't do clothes! xx

  11. I'm after a dress just like the DOC one too, darn it for being too slow on the Sainsbury's one! I have a white pinafore cotton dress that makes me feel/look like I'm 12, but I love it, and a silk Zara white dress that has the Empire line going on so it makes me look/feel expectant. I need a proper hourglass white dress. Need. Can you belt your oversized one?? P x
