Frugal February .. what?

I did very well in January but am struggling if I'm honest through February. It started with Boden and their clearance sale but thankfully annoyingly they cancelled my order due to some HUGE warehouse computer glitch. True to form Boden were totally apologetic replying to every single tweet/facebook comment. They have customer service sewn up and should offer a training programme to other retailers!

Here are the full priced items that did arrive from Boden. I cannot believe that everything I ordered is stripy - WTF?! I'll show and tell tomorrow as I have time on my hands (need to defuzz legs and slap on some colour because they are a shade of blue/grey right now).

5 items = £320

I also popped into Tesco for some bread (I honestly seriously did) and came out with this lot

15 items = £145

Again, I will play dress up tomorrow and report back - very excited about all of the items already.

Here I am on Saturday during the day, we had a party in the evening so this was my prep outfit.

This dress jumped out at me while I was casually browsing the Boden Clearance Sale which has a massive (up to) 80% off a lot of super items. This post isn't about the clearance sale but I couldn't NOT share with you my favourite 'wow I can't believe the price' pieces.

House of Fraser Blue Cross Sale

With the weather we've been having lately and with a small poorly one at home the only thing I can do while away the house is drink, eat and shop! HOORAH! Frugal February can do one!  I just placed a nice large Boden order for a show and tell next week, I'm about to hunt around Next also. An email just popped in to let me know of the HOF Blue Cross Sale - when I say sale I mean EPIC SALE - up to 70% off - wahoo!

As a side note ... I did place a MASSIVE order via Mango online but realised they don't offer free returns (they do offer free delivery) so I cancelled the order and moved on to brands that DO PUT THEIR CUSTOMER FIRST - ASOS and Boden that's you!

Back to the most amazing bargains from HoF ...

Cream Blazer - £10 (size 10 only)

Hunter Rain Mac - £17.50 (small and medium left in stock)

Warehouse Grey Blazer - £25 (size 10 only left)

Jolie Moi Playsuit - £9.99 (small and medium left in stock)

Jolie Moi Playsuit - £12 (small/med left)

Oasis Jumper - £12 (only large left)

Jolie Moi Dress - £15 (size 8 and 12 left)

Vila Pink Bodycon dress - £15 (small and large left)

I could go on but there is so much that if I list all the bargain then you'll nod off!

I actually am going to have to order that cute playsuit - perfect for my holiday in Spain in August!

All sales items (a lot are 70% off retail price) can be found here

How to style ...

The chunky cream polo neck!

I absolutely LOVE my cream polo neck jumper. This one is about 10 years old from Esprit. I've almost worn it to its near death but I can't part with it yet.

I've tried to show how versatile it is and I could have done a lot more (coloured jeans, wide leg trousers etc).

For the school run - comfort zone rules
Jeans - TK Maxx
Boots - Next

Skirt - Whistle & Wolf

Love it dressed down with denim jacket
Similar here, here and here

Added my gilet for warmth and another texture (gilet from Next but not online)

With a denim skirt I love but I don't wear often - it's a bit short I think

And tried it with this kilt from F&F but I'm not sure - school girl look anyone?

Polo necks are like marmite in terms of you either suit them or you don't. If I could live in mine every day I would!

Which of the above is your favourite look? I love it with jeans and I love it with the W&W floral skirt (which reminds me, I must get more of this style as they are super easy to wear all year round).

Victoria Beckham - Latest Collection

This is TOTALLY a dreaming post. There is not a cats chance in hell I'd ever be able to afford the clothes but I do take my hat off to her in her creations - dreamy mcdreamy, the girl from the Spice Girls has done good!

This is all about the pictures! With these items alone I have spent over £10,000!

It's not all gorgeous - or rather these AWFUL models/virtual or not - do not make the clothes look inviting.

I'm also sad to see that she only makes clothes for up to a UK 14 ... WHY?

If you could pick one piece from the latest collection which would you choose? This is total fantasy for 5 minutes!

Bright Blue High Heels

I'm sat here watching Splash on a Sunday afternoon (catching up as I was out last night). I love Splash. I am sitting with my 7yr old as he loves it too! Big child is playing the xbox elsewhere and my husband has gone back to bed because we over cooked it with friends last night!

Gabby Logan looks AMAZING in her dress and the shoes totally make this outfit:

I really need some (and cerise pink shoes) as I think they would look great with any of my 30+ pairs of jeans!

ASOS - £50

New Look - £17.99 - I am going to break my spending ban for these!

John Lewis - £95

John Lewis - £110

Do you own blue shoes? Have you seen any around that I've not spotted?

Oh, here I am from last night:

What I bought in January ...

... since the December sales when I ONLY bought a coat, a pair of boots and a dress, I have bought

I want to say it's because I am making an effort not to spend. The truth is I am having to NOT spend on clothes because I want to spend my money on other things. I have come to a point where I have pretty much everything I need and to buy more is just a variation on a theme. It's taken me years to get to this point and it's only in the past 6 months that I have decided that the pot of money I have (for me and selfishly for me) can be spent on either clothes or flights to see friends and family. I had an absolute blast in LA in October for my birthday and I would love to be able to hop on a plane again this Autumn. The thing is the family want to come too so that's £2500 on flights. If I don't buy (or think VERY WISELY about spending) clothes then perhaps I can raise that money and pay for us all. I also have a best friend in Qatar that I want to go and see, a friend's 50th next year with talk of Dubai for a break (this really is out of my price range for a w/end but it's fun pretending!).

Here I am today in my comfort zone.
Jumper - TK Maxx
Jeans - TK Maxx
Boots - Next

How is everyone else getting on with either spending or not spending? Do you find it hard? I've found just logging in to my bank account each day is helping curb my desire to spend!
