I used to have nice hair, then I cut it, then I tried to grow it but it wouldn't grow so I cut it again, I hated it after a while, I wanted it long, it wouldn't grow #groundhogday.
So 5 months ago I decided to get some hair extensions put in. £200 which I didn't think was a bad price at all for instantly longer hair. But then I didn't think about the £45 per month maintenance cost. On top of that it still needing colouring and cutting. The lady that usually did the mainetance is no longer available so I had to look for a new person but the only one I could found charged £60 per month. It all starts to add up doesn't it just for hair. And the fact I missed being to run my fingers through my hair, brush it from root to end ... so last night I pulled them all out (not in a manic frenzy kind of way but in a gently does it kind of way)!!
So here we are from before, during and after (May 2015 to June 2015 to September 2015).
Products I'm going to use for styling:
Guardian Angel Heat Protection Spray from Amazon
Living Proof from M&S for thickening
And I need to find a good hairdryer that doesn't blow my thin hair all over the place! The one I have now is too powerful.
It's going to take some getting used to as it's really thin in comparison to 200+ extenstions in but I'm going to have to grow to love it because £60 per month on top of my already non budget for spending is too much. Plus I have a 10 day trip to LA in October to save for!
What do you think? Better now or with extensions?

I think your hair looks lovely without. Hair maintenance is such a costly business, isn't it?! Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Heidi - everyone keeps saying it's better shorter! I don't think so but needs must with all the financial up keep! I have shoes and bags to buy!!!
DeleteShorter! Does your hair feel as if it's grown since you had the extensions put in? x
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't really but the condition is fabulous. I think not washing and drying every day helped so I'm going to try and keep that up and hopefully it will grow a little bit more and then I'll cut it again!!!!!!!
DeleteI loved it with, but now I love it without again! And yes the dungarees look great, you should definitely wear them more! xx
ReplyDeleteI should I know but I feel SO self conscious in them and yet I see others (you the other day) looking absolutely fab in them!!
DeleteI actually prefer you without them, Fiona, and the cost is just ridiculous. Your hair has always looked fab. Lynne xx
ReplyDeleteSilly money at over £100 per month moving forward. Think of all the shoes/bags/clothes I can buy with that if I don't spend on my hair each month!
DeleteLiked without - liked with -liked without !! You look fab either way ! And yes get those Dungas on more often ! Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna, so kind. Wondering if I might go 'for the chop' but then again it takes so long to grow that I might have to stick with what I've got until it thickens up a bit. I lost quite a bit pulling them out and brushing all the knots out.
DeleteYikes! That's silly money for hair! The extensions were nice .. but your own hair is lovely, so I think you definitely made the right decision. And oooh, lucky you heading off to LA #jel
ReplyDeleteSilly money indeed but it was amazing and I felt so good when I had them. Now onto saving for LA and thinking about spending!!!!!!!
