My choices were
I tried them all on and actually fell in love with 2 pairs so I didn't cut them! Instead I cut the cerise pink pair (what made me buy these in Sainsbury's last summer? They are foul as trousers/chinos but I do love the colour) and then a pair from Zara that were too long, even for me and even with a high heel.
So I took a favourite pair of too short shorts (only ever wear on hols/the beach) and used them as a template - I knew I'd be cutting longer than these but it helped as a guide. Once I cut one leg I folded over to match with the other leg to cut.
Voila - 2 pairs of new shorts from old jeans/trousers I would not have worn ever again! Please excuse the bed head - off to the outside pool with the children.
What do you think? Have you ever made your own clothes? I have NO DIY skills whatsoever and to make these denim shorts I've shown you don't need any!

I have done exactly the same in the past be trust me, I have absolutely NO skills when it comes to dressmaking. Way to go! Especially love the pink ones
ReplyDeletepink ones are actually too tight - they look ok in the photo but trust me - they do not fit well AT ALL!
DeleteRight I'm off to do the same now. Have you sewn/wonderwebbed the hem up or just left folded? They look lovely. Especially love the pink ones.
ReplyDeleteI just folded - haven't fallen down and I've still got them on! I think they're too long though, I'm going shorter tomorrow!
DeleteWell done you! Good job! I've just ruined my red jeans (the colour run from another garment!) and so I think I'll chop them off after seeing your pink ones! Ax
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy do! If I can do it anyone can
DeleteYou done a great job! i've been making levi vintage 501 shorts for my daughters trip to Ibiza and studding them up, I'm so proud of myself, just wish I was young and thin enough to wear them!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Oh the heady heights of Ibiza and being young enough to party every night!
DeleteI'm going to cut mine shorter, they're a bit too long
Hi my dear! I'm all for cut offs-they are the cheapest and most stylish way to re-do shorts, your versions have come out lovely! xx
ReplyDeleteSooo not a DIY one either, but your idea has got me thinking....it is time to delve deep into the jeans drawer for some oldies! Thank you! x
ReplyDeleteGreat work Fiona, I tried doing this as a teenager and it took three attempts, leaving two unwearable pairs... Could have done with your tip on using shorts as a guide!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! I have attempted the cut before but never processed rolling them up, they look great! Finally you've found an answer to owning all those jeans;)
