Denim shorts for a 40 yr old ...

I don't normally question what I wear and how old I am but today I am. Can a 40 year old wear denim cut off shorts?

I LOVE the look of them ...

This is as good as it got last summer with my home made ones but they look just that - HOME MADE! I am not happy!

Here is my pick of the best online buys available today. I'll order some and do a little show and tell with a fingers crossed this show and tell is better than my previous fails!

Next - £20

Matalan - £14

Topshop - £32
River Island - £25

No blog post of mine is ever complete without a mention of my two favourite online stores - Mango and ASOS!

Mango - £24.99

ASOS - £24

Now on to keeping my legs brown and fuzz free, this is the part of Summer I HATE! I also need saggy skin knee lift surgery - I'm sure I can't be the only one who has TERRIBLE knees?!

Will you be wearing denim cut offs soon? Tell me, what do you wear on your feet? In my show and tell I'll try and work trainers, flip flops, heels (YIKES) etc etc

    1. I will go shopping on Friday, get the razor and false tan out. Perhaps I can cellotape my knee flab to the back?!

  3. I have the GAP ones and they are fabulous - not indecently short and super comfy - and a great price - I live in mine in the summer and I don't plan to stop just because I'm moving through my 40s!

  4. Oh yes, I still laugh how many of us did the old DIY ones during last year's heatwave. I am after a pair myself, I am 41 - had the HUSH ones in mind but the Matalan's look good at £14.99 may have a try on, thanks for the tip on them x

  5. It entirely depends on where you plan to wear them! In a heatwave go for it! But I don't think I'd be donning the heels and going for a night out in them when in your 40s!!!! And by the way, Cocoa Brown Tan have just launched a new range of tanning products, including a Gradual Tanner that I'm very excited about .. just slap on the moisturiser each day and the tan will gradually build up. Perfect for a lazy ass like me :)

    1. AGREED - You won't see me in heels and hot pants!
oooh now that is INTERESTING! I put on tanning moisteriser every other day ... and I just ordered more of their one hr tan (but I put it on and leave it) - the lack of smell is the no brainer for me

  6. A most definite yes, but a lot depends on the length (or lack of it :0) ). I personally think they look better with rough cut edges (and possibly pockets showing) than with the turn ups ( or even turnips!). I dont really like the trainer and shorts look - I think wedges, flats or a 'proper' shoe look better.

  7. PS - I love the idea of knee lift surgery - you may have hit on the next Harley street beauty treatment there!

  8. Yes without a doubt, you have a fab pair of legs, I'm sliding towards 50 and I shall be wearing them for as long as I can! Xx

  9. Gosh those Matalan ones look great F, seem just that little longer. Yes I wear denim shorts and I'm nearer to 50 than 40 (you really don't know how much that hurts me to say that). Thanks for the tip off, super excited to bob in to Matalan - they'll be perfect for our Easter break x
