Drop Waist Dresses

Joanna from Poppy's Style posted last week about a new dress she'd found (and bought) in M&S. It was a take on the Victoria Beckham oversized tent dress. I wasn't keen on it on her at the time, even though I think she looks amazing all the time. I have since changed my mind and now think she looks amazing. #stylecrush

Here is the Marks and Spencer Diamond Jacquard Textured Drop Waist Dress - £39.50
What a bargain!

Here is Joanna rocking in the dress - I love it!

So I guess if M&S are on the ball with drop waist dresses we can firmly say it's a trend for the season ahead.

Here's where you can buy similar

Red dip hem dress - £45

Denim drop waist - £18
I want to love this but it's going to be too short on me. The model here is 5ft 6 and it's short on her

Tartan drop waist - £36
I have ordered this and it's arriving Monday

Here is Frances from Schoolrun Style looking epic in the above dress

Stripy drop waist dress - £84

White Peter Pan collar drop waist dress - £24.50

Boohoo yellow drop waist dress - £12
£12 is a silly price! I do wonder what the quality will be like?

Boohoo drop waist dress in blue marl - £15
LOVE the material but again it's going to be too short on this giraffe

Topshop £20

Topshop £24

So what do you think about the drop waist trend? I am skipping off to M&S now to pick up these beauties and also to try and find the dress but I fear our very small local store won't have it - far too trendy for where I live!

  2. Great post - tho I'm not a fan of drop waists for me. They're gorgeous but awful on pear-shapes sadly..I need some nipping in at the waist. Cannot wait to see yours - and the shoes...I want to hear ALL about the shoes!

  3. Love that plain red dress Fiona. I've tried the M&S one on but wasn't a fan of the colour...if only they did it in a stronger colour I would have snapped it up!

    1. Oh interesting that the colour didn't suit you - I'd say we're the same colour so I'll be interested to see what it's like on - will report back after lunch

  4. It's a bloody hard colour to wear on mere mortals. Great on cooler skin tones but not so forgiving on warm ones. I spotted it a couple of weeks ago and fell in love but knew I would look like death warmed up so didn't try it on. Now if it had been in a gold tone.....

Can't wait to see your dress next week, hope you like it x

  5. I love them, but I am sure I suit them, need to have a try on - I have Frances red check one saved in my Asos wish list, after seeing it on her and loving it! X

    1. I bet I look like a sack of crap in it vs what she looked like!

  6. I agree with Donna - the color is the biggest problem - it does wash me out a bit - hoping once I am dolled up with red lippy and a tan it will look better. As an apple shape I LOVE drop waists - they really conceal my problem areas and the Limited Collection at M&S have some other great VB inspired dresses. I have the Asos checked one too so we can all rock it together - it's a lovely flannel fabric, but I'm afraid no one will look as hot as Frances in it...xx

  7. i love the really baggy ones just for hanging out, you can do quite a grown up version with just a skirt. I love all the girlie looks on everyone else, but I am a giant with big shoulders and just look like Grayson Perry!

  10. Love this style of dress and it has the added bonus of fitting a bump in, may look about one, it probably one of the only dresses I'll be able to wear for the next few weeks and after. Of course I'm loving the yellow one- big surprise!!
