Why I love Mint Velvet

About 18 months ago, one end of our high street got a revamp with a new mini shopping mall and some new stores either side. One of those stores was Mint Velvet. I'd never heard of them before but I went in as the front of the store was light, bright and inviting. The staff were very friendly (not that overly fake friendly) and I was impressed. I was in love with pretty much everything in the store. The colours are amazing, the lines of their clothes, the styles etc. Now they are on the pricier end of my budget but that doesn't stop me dreaming that I owned ALL of their stock - every single piece!

I was recently involved in some local styling event and I spent a bit of time in the Newbury Mint Velvet shop (mainly because the staff were SO friend - hello Sarah (manager) but it was so warm and cosy in there (it was FREEZING outside).

I spotted some khaki trousers on one of the (very neatly) organised racks and I tried them on - IN LOVE, it was instant. They are so soft to touch and very very very easy to wear. I know I can wear them dressed up or down and I URGE you to try them on, or at the very least, stroke them! I also spotted an amazing necklace and the kind lady at Mint Velvet gave them to me for free - how nice is that? In return I said I would write a review but not because I got these items for free but because I blooming love Mint Velvet!  (FYI for past, present and future posts - I NEVER EVER EVER review anything I don't genuinely love myself - fact).

Now, I know they have the potenital to look like a pair of trousers an old man might wear but the pleats are very flattering on actually. The cropped peg leg is perfect for the Spring/Summer ahead of us and they can be work with heels/ballet pumps or flip flops.

Here they are on me!

I also chose an amazing necklace to wear and I have already worn it 3 times - it goes with EVERYTHING!

Stone & Crystal Necklace

Here I am wearing it

Mint Velvet have just launched a whole new occasion dress collection and if I had to pick out one dress that will never date and is a timeless classic it would be this. So if you have a special occasion to go to this summer, now is the time to buy THAT dress

Silver Embroidered Organza Dress - £159.00

They also have a great sale on right now so if you fancy grabbing yourself a bargain, click here to find out more about what savings you can make today.

Here are some professional models wearing Mint Velvet Spring/Summer - these are the gorgeous ladies I worked with when I was freezing cold and warming up in my local MV Store! I love love love the first two looks - what do you think?

Do you have a local Mint Velvet? I URGE you go in store to feel the clothes, they are amazing. Also they are on Facebook/Twitter and Pinterest.

I'm due to go back to our local store again for a more detailed show and tell session with other items/outfits - I couldn't fit everything I wanted to say in this one post!

Fiona

  1. Lovely post - you look amazing! Seeing the stuff on a real person is so much better than any still photograph. Great to see how you have integrated into your own wardrobe too - that's important when you're making a bigger purchase. Love MV too - wish we had a standalone store here in Belfast. I always love paying a visit to the Guildford one when I'm over Ax

    1. Are they not in NI at all or just not one near you? I'm surprised.

I agree that to see clothes 'on' is so much better

  2. Just gorgeous - I love so much of theirs but they aren't over here yet...I loved their dresses last season which had knitted tops and silk bubble skirts - their color palette is always perfect. x

    1. I bet it's not long before they are over in the US - I reckon Mint Velvet could be the new Boden - the US folk would love the simple, sophisticated look of MV

  4. Wow you really need to see those trousers on, they are lovely on you Fiona. Really like them with the breton top too. Like Avril said we dont have one over here so I know nothing about them other than through blogs, but I know everyone seems to comment on the texture of the clothes being so soft, which I love!

    1. It's true - so often clothes need to be 'seen' on people instead of on a hanger.
Soft for sure, all their clothes are so well made too - you really can't beat the quality of their stuff

    1. You HAVE to go in! If you love what you see from online only then my goodness me you're in for a treat! It's the softness of the clothes and the quality that you just don't get from online viewing!

  6. How tall are you Fiona? Love the trousers but at 5'10" some clothes just don't fit lengthwise!

    1. Isn't it gorgeous? It's so much better in real life than on the website I think.

  10. Love, love, love Mint Velvet. We only have a concession store in our local HofF in Dublin .. would adore if they opened a standalone store. Those trousers look fab on you ... pure proof that you need to see people wearing clothes to properly judge them! They didn't look like anything special in the pic on their own. Looking forward to reading your next review on MV .. & ask them if they're going to open in Dublin, won't you??!!

  14. Do you know Fiona, I looked at the photo of the trousers and thought "oh - how not very exciting" but I have to say, they look fab on you and I can see why picked them - you are going to get so much wear out of them. We don't have a MV store where we are - we only have a very small concession in the Leeds HofF and it's kind of tucked out of the way so it's easy to overlook.

Can I say, you're looking very model like in these shots but then again you do have model proportions. 5ft 9!

    1. You are officially my new BFF - what a lovely thing to say :-) Thank you!

I reckon Leeds is the perfect destination for a new MV store.

I can't wait to wear them again - reckon with a simple white tshirt and denim jacket they'd look good also.

    1. I agree - their staff training must be a good one because all the girls/ladies that work in my local store are fantastic - helpful, knowledgeable and most of all - honest! No point in saying someone looks great if they don't! They know their stock and they know their customers.
